This achievement, which distinguishes us today, is the direct result of the dedication and unwavering commitment of absolutely everyone who makes up the Faculty of Medicine community: students, faculty, and administrative staff who give their best every day.
At the University of Azuay, we understand that scientific excellence must go hand in hand with a profound ethical awareness. Therefore, our training of highly qualified professionals is based on the strategic support of clinical simulation, a fundamental tool that guarantees patient safety while our students refine their skills. CONCEPTOS® Cuenca–Ecuador 2026 is an international conference organized by the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile together with the University of Azuay, focused on updating knowledge in Emergency Medicine and critical care, including pre-hospital care.
A dynamic and interactive event with international speakers.
We offer a medical career to train doctors with the ability to know and incorporate into their professional practice the scientific, technological, methodological contributions and ancestral knowledge of the Ecuadorian population, based on the health needs and national development plans, which contribute to society, with a vision of Primary Health Care.
Our Training Spaces that are available to our students are:
Promote inter-institutional cooperation with the Ministry of Public Health and the city's Hospitals to promote the training of human talent in health, according to the gap in health professionals and the institutional needs established by the national health authority.
International conferences, workshops and university courses for advanced studies.
Linkage projects with the participation of our students, teachers and researchers and publications.

Certificates were presented to older adults who participated in training offered by UDACAM - University of Self-Care for Older Adults, from March to June 2025.
This is an educational project that strengthens the well-being and autonomy of the older adult population.
The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Azuay, together with the Senior Citizen Program of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute, has created the University of Senior Citizen Self-Care (UDACAM) program, whose objective is to train older adults in basic topics related to their care and health.
The University of Azuay, through its rector, Professor Francisco Salgado, congratulated and thanked our student for his courage and dedication in the face of an emergency, where he demonstrated his ethics and professionalism. He also recognized the Faculty, and especially our First Aid instructors, for guiding our students and preparing them to serve the community.
Congratulations, Agustín, we are very proud of your actions and preparation.
Since February 15, 2025, the event has been held in our city National University Sports Championship Cuenca 2025, in which our Pumas had an outstanding participation, with several of our representatives winning the quota to represent Ecuador in the World University Games Rhine-Ruhr, Germany 2025.
We congratulate the athletes of our Faculty, who played an excellent role and left our University at the top of the world!
